The Best Travel Pillow for Long Haul Flights – Trtl Travel Pillow

January 4, 2019|Lena

There is one thing I am really happy about bringing on my trip around the world: My Trtl Travel Pillow

It has allowed me to sleep comfortably on many long bus rides (for example the bus rides with CTM bus in Morocco) and flights already and when I don’t have it in my hand luggage during a long flight or bus ride I miss it dearly because I wake up every half hour with a stiff neck and dry mouth.

If you are looking for the best travel pillow for long haul flights I cannot recommend the Trtl Travel Pillow more.

In this Trtl Pillow review post I will share with you the pros and cons. How to use the neck pillow and everything else you might want to know before purchasing it. In the end there is just one thing I recommend you do: Buy the Trlt Travel Pillow and try it on your next long haul flight.

The best travel pillow for long haul flights is the Trtl Travel Pillow. It will let you sleep in comfort for hours without getting a stiff neck. Buy it and try it!

Pros and Cons of the Trtl Pillow

Pros

+ No neck pain
+ Comfortable in any seat and with any neck rest
+ Washable material
+ Easy to transport
+ No need to inflate or deflate before and after use

Cons

– Not compatible with big headphones
– Size might not fit everyone

Buying the Trtl Travel Pillow

If you are already ready to buy the best neck pillow out there I don’t want to make you read through the whole review.

Just follow the link to the Trtl Travel Pillow amazon.com page and order your travel pillow right away. It will surely arrive before your next trip!

Wearing the Best Travel Neck Pillow

When you open the velcro and unwrap your Trtl Travel Pillow, it unfolds to a shape similar to a short scarf. And exactly like a scarf you want to wrap it around your neck.

First, you place the side with the plastic frame on your right or left shoulder, depending on the direction you want to lean your head while sleeping (or under your chin), and then you wrap the rest tightly around your neck once and fix it with the velcro. It’s as simple as that.

I like to switch it up after a couple of hours, so I don’t lean to the same side the whole time. You can either position the neck support pillow on your left shoulder, your right shoulder or under your chin. It will support your neck and head in any position.

Sleeping in Comfort

Now that you have your pillow in the right position you can take a nap in comfort, as you have never done before. Seriously.

While other cheap travel pillows don’t stop your head from falling forward uncomfortably, the Trtl Travel Pillow does precisely that. You will never again have a crooked neck from sleeping on a long haul flight or bus ride.

By the way, no matter what airline seat or headrest the neck support travel pillow will always fit comfortably because it isn’t bulky in the back of your neck like microbead travel pillows or inflatable travel pillows.

Listening to Music

I always use my Bose QuietComfort 20 in-ear headphones (check their latest price on amazon.com) while sleeping on long haul flights because they are very good at canceling the loud engine noise of the plane.

I have to admit it can get a little bit uncomfortable having the headphones in and my Trtl Travel Pillow wrapped around my neck. I need to adjust it carefully to fit comfortably. When I do carefully put the headphones in and rest my head on the pillow it works fine.

If you use big headphones though, I can imagine you will have trouble using them at the same time as your neck support travel pillow, please consider this if you are thinking about buying the Trtl Travel Pillow.

Transporting the Trtl Travel Pillow

Some people might say that the pillow will take up more space than a regular inflatable travel neck pillow, and you might be right it isn’t as small. But I have been traveling around with it for the last half year, and I either hang it at the handle or strap of my hand luggage or put it in the open pocket in the front of my big travel backpack. It is never in the way.

Keeping the Pillow Clean

Because you can’t really store the Trtl Travel Pillow in a case like other travel neck pillows, it might get dirty. But don’t worry, this is not the best travel pillow for nothing, you can simply take out the support system and wash the case in your washing machine.

I have washed it twice now, and it hasn’t lost its bright pink color or any of its comfort.

Materials and Design

The outside material is made from hypoallergenic lightweight fleece which comes in four colors: black, gray, red and corral (that’s the one I got and I would call it pink). The insert that supports your head while you sleep is made from plastic.

The pillow’s design is unique, it looks completely different from all other travel pillows that I have ever seen, but it really is well designed. What I mean is that you don’t look stupid while wearing it on a plane. You really just look like you are sleeping with a scarf wrapped around your neck.

One Size Fits All?

According to the Trtl website, it is supposed to be one size fits all, and for my neck, it is a perfect size. But according to some reviews on Amazon.com, the Trtl Travel Pillow might not be so perfect if you are very tall and have a long neck. It also won’t work as well for small children, and the manufacturers recommend it for children over 14 years.
